An interactive underwater environment
Development: Unity 6
Art: Autodesk Maya
Timeline: 1 Month
Coral Reef Cafe is a stylized and lighthearted narration on the relationship between humanity and marine life. What would the world look like underwater if it merged with our world in the future? It is meant to appeal to the viewer's understanding of oceanic aesthetics, then introduce more and more unexpected objects, creatures, and structures. As one of my first interactive 3D environemnts, it represent an amalgamation of intial organic studies and large structures.
Unique to other projects, this environemnt was developed for a Fine Arts course at Indiana University. In this way, I was given the task to focus on a narrative and aesthetic rather than functionality
Based on my interests in marine life and the unknown, I continuted with an ironic and slightly fantastical idea of an underground life underwater, influenced by human ideas.
Larger models were created and then filled with smaller pieces in the environment such as grass, starfish, or rocks.
Coral Reef Cafe introduced me to the process of animation in Unity as well. You may see some animations that are looping, while others can be found and triggered within the environment based on the player's proximity to interactable objects.
